Verizon Innovation Center
CCD designed a line of furniture and fixtures for Verizon’s Innovation Centers in Boston and San Francisco. The goal was to create a kit of parts that could be used as modules for telling various technology stories. The kit initially started out as a singular item that would be repeated throughout the space; allowing the architecture to play a larger role in the innovation story. Therefore, the initial concepts started much more modest in their presence.
As the team gave feedback, we quickly knew that the importance of the furniture was going to play a much larger role in supporting the innovation story. We went with a design that would allow for both modularity in both signage and lighting.
This then lead to graphic explorations, extrapolating the form out to other areas in the buildings and applying the aesthetic to additional form factors until a kit of parts was produced. The kit included a coffee table, merchandising table, a 1×1 and 2×1 side table, a standee, a long-wrap merchandising bench, as well as pillar signage.
Once approved, the team put everything into production and the pieces were installed at the locations at both centers. Everyone was super pleased and the project led to additional design work in the building in the form of lighting exploration, space audits, and more!
We love to work with technology companies. They have some really amazing problems to solve and we are happy to be a part of their team!Verizon loved the designs so much, they were included in the executive briefing program collateral.
